Refunds & Cancellation

PortBay Pro is a monthly subscription (currently US$10/month) sold through Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles payment, taxes, invoicing, and refund processing; your purchase contract for the transaction is with Paddle under its buyer terms. This page explains how cancellation and refunds work in plain language.

New subscriptions include a 7-day free trial: you aren’t charged until the trial ends, and cancelling during the trial costs nothing.

Cancelling is as easy as subscribing

  • In the PortBay app, open Settings → Account → Billing and choose Cancel subscription (or Manage billing for payment methods and invoices), or
  • use the subscription-management link in any Paddle receipt email (sent at purchase and at every renewal), or
  • email hello@portbay.appfrom your account email and we’ll cancel it for you.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you’ve already paid for: Pro stays active until then, no further charges are made, and your local projects are never touched. There is no cancellation fee, no phone call, and no retention hoop.

Renewal notice

The subscription renews automatically each monthat the then-current price unless you cancel first. Paddle emails a receipt for every charge; we’ll notify you ahead of any price increase.

EU/EEA & UK consumers — 14-day right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA or UK, you have a statutory right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 days without giving a reason (Consumer Rights Directive, Art. 9). Because Pro is a digital service that activates immediately at checkout, you expressly consent at purchase to performance beginning right away; withdrawing within the 14-day window still entitles you to a refund as described below.

Refunds

  • First purchase: request a refund within 14 daysof buying Pro and you’ll receive it in full.
  • Renewals:if a renewal charge surprises you, contact us within 14 days of the charge and we’ll refund it and cancel the subscription.
  • Outside those windows: email us anyway — refund requests are handled case by case through Paddle.

To request a refund, reply to your Paddle receipt email or write to hello@portbay.app with the email you purchased under. Refunds are issued by Paddle to the original payment method. A refunded purchase revokes the Pro entitlement; everything already on your machine — your projects and the open-source app itself — keeps working.

Nothing here limits your statutory rights
