Running in three steps

No setup wizard and nothing to configure — the time between this download and a running site is the time it takes to drag an icon.

  1. 01

Open the DMG and drag PortBay into Applications. The app is signed and notarized, so Gatekeeper opens it without warnings — no right-click ritual.

  2. 02

Add a project folder. PortBay reads the framework — Laravel, WordPress, Next.js, Vite, Node or static — and fills in the start command, port and hostname itself.

  3. 03

Press Play. Your site comes up at https://yourproject.test with a certificate your browser already trusts.

Check the bits before you run them

Everything about this download can be verified — the code, the signature, the contents of the binary and every update after it.

Signed and notarized

Every release is built, signed, notarized and stapled by CI before it reaches GitHub — macOS verifies the app before it first opens.

Open source

The complete app — Rust core, interface and build pipeline — is public. Read the code that runs on your machine.

Signed updates

PortBay updates itself from GitHub releases and verifies every update against a published public key before installing it.

A bill of materials

Each release publishes an SBOM listing every dependency compiled into the binary, alongside the DMG on the releases page.

Download once. Press Play every day.
